Replace the door knob
Find acrylic knobs used on bathroom doors. However, these knobs lock. Prying off the knob cap reveals a plastic locking device. These often get broken or damaged and must be replaced. Remove the locking part and take it with you when you go for a new one.
Every locking door needs a key. For these knobs, the key takes the form of an awl, ice pick, long nail, or narrow screwdriver. Insert the “key” through the hole in the center of the knob cap and push. Turn the knob and open the door.
To replace a locking acrylic knob, remove the end cover and the locking device. As with decorator pull knobs, one screw holds this knob in place on the door. Back that screw out. Disassemble the knobs from both sides of the door, and the latch.
To replace this knob assembly with an identical one, just reverse the take-apart procedure. A different type of closure may require drilling new holes.
